The Plant Production Superintendent is responsible for managing the operations of the plant pertaining to production and quality of products. Responsible for meeting supervisors to discuss shift activities and to keep up to date on current matters pertaining to the production and/or quality of products.



  • Responsible for training employees to provide flexibility in operation.

  • Responsible for setting objectives.

  • Responsible for evaluating performance.

  • Requires a prominent level of understanding of organizational components.

  • Has demonstrated leadership ability and potential through lead assignments, project leadership or previous experience.

  • Responsible for scheduling all areas of production to ensure timely delivery of products to the customers.



  • Directly supervises Legacy Compound & Receiving, Material Preparation, Curing, and Warehouse supervisors.

  • Observes the condition of each department to determine physical condition of the equipment, establish priorities for repairing malfunctioning or inoperable equipment, to ascertain housekeeping duties are being performed, to determine the need to transfer employees due to material shortage and/or absenteeism, and to assure employee work habits meet established Standard Practices.  When major equipment breakdowns occur must obtain any additional assistance or notify the responsible personnel to minimize lost time.

  • Assists in the maintenance of the Quality Control Program by reviewing the defective tire reports to determine cause for defect, following up with supervisors to assure proper attention is being given to problems, and assisting Product Assurance and production department personnel to isolate and solve problems.

  • Meets with the Production Manager to discuss shift activities and to keep up to date on current matters pertaining to the production and/or quality of products.

  • Initiates action on weather warning, bomb threats, or follow up on any developments of end results.

  • Conduct a shift production meeting for all shift supervisors, scheduling, Product Assurance, and technical representative of short duration to air difficulties, solve short term problems, alleviate communication gaps, and review previous production problems and current problems, and to coordinate any changes to normal procedures if required. To advise of any current problems with quality and production or try to alleviate problems that have developed during the present shift, and to ensure preparation of forthcoming shift.

  • Prepares an end of the shift report that contains problems that were encountered, alert for possible downstream effects, pass on results of tests, observations, disruptions of continuity of flow (causes or corrections), and contacts with the Department Managers.

  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt certified)

  • 10 years of related manufacturing experience

  • Must maintain production processes in accordance with ISO Standards
