Controls Automation Engineer (m/f)

The opportunity
Take the helm of a unique position that interweaves the intricacies of controls automation with the dynamic landscape of IT. As a cornerstone in our team, you will oversee not just the general maintenance and breakdown resolution of control automation, but also provide vital support to machine retrofit projects across controls L1 and L2. This role mandates a seamless collaboration with external suppliers, ensuring alignment with our global engineering standards, environmental health & safety (EHS) strategies, and top-tier IT standards.
In this capacity, not only will you troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment issues, but you'll also be instrumental in driving technology projects, particularly IT infrastructure and software integration. Your role goes beyond maintenance; it's about innovation, forward-thinking, and bridging the gap between traditional manufacturing and the modern IT world.
Harness your experience to supervise external suppliers on automation projects, seek solutions to both controls and IT technical challenges, and be a pivotal contributor to a team that's at the forefront of marrying engineering prowess with IT excellence.
 
Main tasks will include:

  • Troubleshooting and resolution of equipment performance issues.
  • Support technology projects, including IT infrastructure and software integration, alongside basic management, and evaluation of equipment suppliers.
  • Cooperate with IT teams and other departments to align technology solutions and meet objectives.
  • Drive compliancy with respect to global engineering-EHS, global IT standards and machine industry standards 
  • Assess and address risk for self/others. 
  • Good communication skills

 

To join our team you will need:
    
Education:

The candidate should have a Bachelor in Electromechanical-Controls Engineering.

 

Languages: 

Min B2 in English (any additional language would be considered as an asset).

 

Experience:

  • 5 years of working experience in tire manufacturing or related industry with exposure to projects and project management.
  • Experience in IT related projects, infrastructure setup, network management, and software deployment.
  • Experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC/Hardware programming (experience with Moeller would be an asset).
  • Experienced working in matrixed organization and cross-functional teams with exposure to process-based environments.
  • Experience with equipment safety standards, CTIs, or other industry similar standard and reliability requirements.
  • Experience in machine troubleshooting in highly structured environment (5 years - 8D, A3, PMO, etc.).
  • Familiarity with tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Beginner in Java, with a nice-to-have understanding of modern Java frameworks like Quarkus and a pure basic understanding of C#.
  • Comfort with DevOps tools like Linux, Jenkins, Docker, and Grafana.
  • Understanding of Message-Oriented Middleware (MOM) architecture.
  • Knowledge about code versioning software, notably Git or SVN.

 

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Siemens PLC software (or Rockwell) knowledge as well as knowledge on electrical circuits drawings 
  • Strong IT problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic tech environment.
  • Project management (e.g. PMO or Prince), A3-8D quality RCA approach knowledge
  • Ability to react quickly when IT or operational urgency occurs, flexible.
  • Communication skills, team building, team participation skills
