The Opportunity
This position will be a member of the Global IT Infrastructure Services organization responsible for professional and technical work related to hosting services. This is an advanced service supporting role primarily responsible for the transitional and operational tasks and duties in support of hosting service implementations that span across a broad range of global services and solutions (Server, Storage, Unix/Linux/Windows Operating Systems, Virtualization, and Datacenter Facilities).

 

On this position you will:

  • Service Transition Processes limited to data center facility management: Knowledge Management, Change Management, Asset & Configuration Management, Transition Planning & Support, Service Validation & Testing, Evaluation.
  • Service Operation Processes limited to data center facility management: Incident Management, Problem Management, Event Management, Request Fulfillment, Access Management, Operations Management.
  • Responsible for administration of the data center facilities. 
  • Works with/across global/regional/local IT teams by providing intermediate/advanced consultation related to data center facility administration.
  • Leverage data to identify, justify, recommend and implement data center facility improvements, which leverage on new or existing technologies, e.g. data center design, electrical capacity, cooling capacity, and facility, equipment, security & services monitoring.
  • Interact with internal customers in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of IT business solutions. This could include: presentations on how to apply Information Technology, strategies for implementing IT solutions, and assistance in costing exercises.  
  • Support or coordinate with 3rd party vendors delivering services to the datacenter, e.g. installations, modifications, improvements, and maintenance.
  • Plan, implement, and document data center capacity (electrical, space, cooling)  based on current and future business requirements. 
  • Evaluate business and technical requirement documents, recommending solutions, project planning, and identifying training needs.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and 3rd parties regarding hardware installations, and preventive  maintenance.  Perform troubleshooting related to the datacenter facility (electricity, cooling, humidity, security) and escalate to 3rd party support when necessary.
  • Manage small to medium projects within area of specialization (data center facility administration) and across functional groups. Provides technical leadership for small to medium project teams. (Projects includes, but may not be limited, to electricity renewal, cooling renewal, setup hot/cold corridors, device installations and tech refreshes).
  • Lead intermediate/advanced problem resolution and documentation related to data center facility.  Problems are often complex and ambiguous in nature.
  • Participate in an Emergency On-Call Rotation for after-hours and weekend support. Flexible schedules and 24x7 support availability (generally scheduled in advance) may be required as necessary to support the technical needs of our customers (only 1 person in the team : what about rotation).
  • Manage small and complex projects within area of specialization.
  • May be required to perform activities associated with Technical Delivery Management (TDM) of one or more services. TDM includes ownership, maintenance, publishing and enforcing standard implementation, configuration, versioning, standardization penetration reporting, 24 month roadmap, awareness of common incidents, and involvement in Problem Management for supported services. TDM also includes participating in Continuous Service Improvement and consumption & capacity management.

Education :
Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Business Administration or related discipline is required Knowledge of electricity and cooling systems is a must.

 

Experience : 
Minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in applying current information technology to specific areas of the business.

 

Languages:
English is a must. Any other (European) language will be considered as an asset.
