Forensic Analyst Engineer Associate

Primary Purpose of the Position

Forensic Analyst GICL is part of the Metrology team based in Luxembourg. This is an established position into the organization at the engineer level (E3-E4). This position is meant to serve internal customers from different departments and regions like: GRMDA, Compounding, Quality, Operations (plants), Technology and product development. Incumbent will be specifically in charge of performing Forensic Science requests using analytical skills.

 

From technical perspective incumbent in this role will add critical knowledge and practice considering the use of multiple analytical equipment’s. This is a critical capability to ensure continued support related to business-critical Forensics requests and root cause analysis.

 

The main accountabilities of the role are as following:

  • Apply problem solving and analytical skills on Forensic requests / analysis.
  • Reporting of observations / conclusions of analysis in comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Communication to customers.
  • Support sample preparation for forensic analysis.
  • Promote safe work.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Operations

  • Problem solving methodology and analytical skills on Forensic Science requests. Perform root cause analysis on various requests linked to plant support, business critical projects, fundamental projects and standard type requests. Apply best-practices and standardized work using different types of analytical techniques: Microscopy, Spectroscopy and any other "micro" - analytical technique while assuring safe and effective operations. Support the team with sample preparation.

 

Reporting

  • Reporting of observations and description of findings in technical reports including detailed conclusions.

 

Communication to customers

  • Ensure communication to internal customers (Quality, plants, Technology and Product development teams and leaders) on advancements in the analysis.

To join our team, you will need:

Education & Certifications

  • Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, Physics or related subjects, or equivalent experience.

 

Experience

  • Practical experience in analytical techniques, optical microscopy, spectroscopy or any other micro-analytical technique is a strong asset.
  • Experience with polymers/elastomers is an asset.
  • Knowledge in tire engineering, manufacturing processes, testing or materials is an asset.
