Internship in Fleet Tire Testing/Test Engineering (m/f)

The Opportunity:
Among many other different tests, our test department runs with vehicles on open road to simulate real customer usage and to determine tire usage aspects such as wear shape, milage and particle emissions/weight loss. For this purpose, the tests run only to a certain tire wear level (e.g. 50 % or less). With the so measured data projections are done to get the picture of the fully worn tires. 
Now, it should be investigated with statistical methods how the test milage/lead-time could be reduced.

The main steps of the projects are the following:

• Introduction into topic, definition of project scope.
• Develop an improved quality check system for road wear tests based on existing data (from our cloud server)
• Develop a test stop criteria process based on existing data + planning validation trials
• Depending on programming skills, code implementation 
• Documentation
• Beside this main activity, the candidate is a full member of the Fleet Tire Test team and should also provide support in daily operation tasks, such as result analyze or GPS road mapping, where she/he works close together with our engineers (when time allows it).

Responsibilities:
Provide quality check system & test stop criteria for Treadwear tests.

To join our team you will need:
  
Education:
Master’s student in Mechanical/Automotive Engineer or similar background.

Languages:
English is a must. German and/or French is an asset.

Skills & Qualifications:  

• Experience using Microsoft Office suite
• Knowledge in statistical tools/methods
• Knowledge in MATLAB and/or Phyton
• Experience in SQL database

You must be available for 6 months & be enrolled in university.
Ideal starting date : January 2024
