The Opportunity


The New Product Industrialization team in the EMEA Quality department is looking for candidates to fill the role of Proactive Manufacturing Modeling engineer. The role is close to the reality in our manufacturing environment, focus is to use the exiting tools in a proactive manor for new projects/products. It is not about to develop new simulation tools.

Project initiation can come from issues in our plants, but preferably proactively from FMEA, MRM or other risk identification tools in the beginning of a project. All work done in cooperation with all relevant functions for a specific project or program.


The Tasks

•Work proactively with different development teams to model and predict manufacturing related performances and with that contribute to the industrialization of new products.
•Use modeling of techniques related to the manufacturing of tires (extrusion; co-extrusion; bladder fitment; etc.) to facilitate the industrialization of new products;
•Resolve Manufacturing issues happening during the Industrialization of new products with the help of the modeling tool-set that is available or in-development.
•Assess and minimize Yield risks by e.g. run a Conicity sensitivity study.
•Assess and minimize Waste risks by run Bladder fitment models and/or Cure modeling.
•Adopt extrusion equipment, splice bar and/or dies, for specific complex projects to improve compound flow.
•Use Big data tool, BrainCube, to support problem solving for Industrialization issues.
•Support the integration of manufacturing modeling tools in the tire production environment.


To join our team you will need:



•M.Sc. in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, polymer engineering or a similar discipline.


•English is a must. Any other European language is an asset.


•2+ years of experience in new product development (tire development) and/or manufacturing environment (tire plant) experience;
•2+ years of experience in numerical simulation methods.
•Experience with a CAD package such as CATIA V5.

Skills & Qualifications

•Knowledge about Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis and statistics;
•Good communication skills: being capable to convey information concisely to diverse audience;
•Being able to work in a team environment and deliver results on time;
•Ability to analyze and interpret plant data with statistics/data science tools;
•Strong programming skills are additional assets.
