Primary Purpose of the Position
The Scientist Staff for Analytical Science is part of the Luxembourg Metrology team. This team focuses on the testing and analysis of tire-related materials, including raw materials and finished tire products.
The roles and responsibilities include:
- Develops new analytical testing methods and enhances current analytical testing methods for the evaluation of tire-related materials.
- Identifies areas for advancement in technology and formulates experimental plans for attaining these goals.
- Responsible for the development and routine maintenance of analytical equipment.
- Provides support for research, development, and plant support-related projects.
- Develops and maintains analytical testing methods and coaches team members on proper application.
- Interfaces with customers to formulate technical solutions from an analytical position.
- Conducts analytical testing for material evaluation, including raw material analysis and compound reformulation.
- Documents and updates testing procedures as necessary.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Project work associated with material evaluation including laboratory evaluation, material testing, and the formulation/execution of procedures for material analysis.
- Documenting and recording of test specifications/guidelines, knowledge retention, and analytical method auditing.
- Internal and external training and coaching.
To join our team, you will need:
Education & Certification:
- A master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, Physics or related subjects, or equivalent experience is required.
- A Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry, with specialization in Chromatography is desired.
Experience:
- 5 or more years of analytical laboratory experience (3 or more years of analytical laboratory experience with a PhD).
- Relevant research experience and demonstrated competencies in liquid and gas. chromatographic techniques including GC-FID, GC-MS, LC/MS, and GPC is a requirement.
- Good theoretical and practical knowledge of NMR and FTIR spectroscopy is an asset.
- Experience with laboratory data management systems is desired.
