About the Position

The Engineering/Maintenance Manager is responsible for all engineering and maintenance activities in the plant. They will lead a team of 50 engineers and maintenance professional, as well as 250 craftsmen.  This person will be responsible for ensuring that systems and procedures are properly designed and fully implemented.  Will implement timely and cost-effective capital projects to sustain or improve operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory agencies. They will maintain transportation systems and production facilities for product supply chain. Will plan and manage the plant’s utilities requirements to meet production needs, as well as analyze and coordinate the plant’s energy consumption to reduce costs.  Ensure audit compliance and oversee preventive maintenance.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure asset efficiencies are met, reduce energy consumption, direct engineering and maintenance and standardize best practices.
  • Collect and analyze steam, gas, nitrogen, river water and effluent outfalls to communicate energy use against established goals to plant and corporate personnel.
  • Develop algorithms to project utility usage and cost for the annual AOP and monthly estimates for the procurement of all utilities.
  • Develop, design, budget, construct and control cost and schedule for capital and expense projects.
  • Direct repair and construction of railroads, plant roofs, underground storm, sanitary and process waste systems.
  • Assist General Manager Merchandising Materials Control by preparing operating lease budgets for rail cars and fork trucks from FASB-13 information.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering
  • 10 years' experience managing a complex manufacturing maintenance/engineering environment.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Must have knowledge of engineering standards such as NFPA, OHSA, ASME, API, UBC, etc. and be able to problem solve.

 

Desired Skills and Abilities                                                                                                    

  • Training/knowledge of use of root cause analysis, Six Sigma and troubleshooting methodologies is desirable.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations for air, water and solid waste.
  • Solid understanding of pump curves and piping systems, machine design and process design including blue print reading, process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of equipment and processes.
