Senior Manager Public Affairs EMEA

The opportunity
The Head of Public Affairs EMEA is responsible for supporting the EU-wide implementation of the EMEA Public Affairs strategy, with a specific focus on France and Luxembourg, to advance and protect Goodyear's business objectives. 

The Head of Public Affairs EMEA will lead the planning, delivery and reporting of an impactful political advocacy and engagement program in France and Luxembourg, while also supporting on key files at EU level. This includes external representation at both pan-European and local trade associations, as well as towards European and national policymakers and other relevant stakeholders; monitoring political, policy and regulatory developments in support of the work of the EMEA Public Affairs team and other relevant departments; providing Goodyear management with timely and concise information about emerging issues and leading the development of the company's positions and responses. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Together with the EMEA Public Affairs team, setting the Public Affairs strategy for France and Luxembourg and driving its implementation.
  • Representing the company vis-à-vis relevant external stakeholders, both in France and Luxembourg and at EU level. This includes European and national policy makers, regulators, and industry associations. In line with the EMEA Public Affairs strategy, conducting advocacy activities on EU policy and regulatory topics, mapping and maintaining a strong stakeholder network and building coalitions for effective representation of industry positions.
  • Analyzing the content of national legislative proposals that impact the company. Leading position forming on national regulatory issues in France and Luxembourg, initiating and coordinating internal consultations in cross-functional teams with the aim of forming comprehensive advocacy positions on national regulatory topics of high and medium importance.
  • Implementing EMEA policy priorities in France and Luxembourg, leading advocacy in both countries on EU-related laws. They also proactively report at local and EMEA level on topics of strategic importance from the French and Luxembourgish policy and regulatory environment. 
  • Taking the lead on a select number of EU policy dossiers, analyzing content and leading on position forming.    

 

To join our team you will need:
    
Education: 
University degree, preferably Law, Economics, Political Science, or Public Administration.

 

Languages:

  • French native speaker, fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
     

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in lobbying – at the French or EU level.
  • Professional experience in the automotive sector is an asset.
     

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Sound understanding of the national and EU decision-making processes.
  • Excellent advocacy skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral & writing. 
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of the EU legislation on tires, on the automotive sector, and on related issues.
  • Good understanding of the European tire industry.
  • Broad understanding of the trends in economy, transport matters, EU internal market and EU integration; also solid understanding of the French political landscape and regulatory topics.
  • Diplomatic skills and strong influencing; independent worker but with a team-spirit; pro-active and results-oriented; client-oriented; determined but flexible.
