Primary Purpose of the Position:

Primary responsibility for the execution of Motorsport events, from forecasting the required inventory, planning the event support required and forecasting the P&L, through to managing the event at the race track focusing on customer service and managing all the internal staff at the track to supply the service delivering the units sales and the financial contribution expected and providing pré & post event reporting. 

 

Race Event External Customer Service:

Be the main contact point at the race event location for governing bodies (IRTA, FFM, FIM, Youth stream…), Race Teams, Riders and initial press contact. 
Resolve any queries from main stakeholders and use opportunities to promote the brand.  Lead responsibility for crisis management at events.
Collaborate with PR, Sales and Marketing, both before and after the event, to ensure that the brand objectives of the event are met and providing input for Press Releases. Ensure exposure of Motorcycle race related road products

 

Demand Planning & Event P&L Forecasting:

Plan future demand to service the events for which you are responsible, including multiple specifications and free of charge tyres and liaise with Supply Chain. 

 

Business Development:

Have a strong understanding of the relevant Motorsport market, including creating a clear roadmap of event contract renewals and tenders.
Discuss new opportunities and race classes (open competition and/ or single brand)

When opportunities are available act as the coordinator for tenders and support the Motorcycle Motorsport Sales Manager EMEA in contract negotiations with event organizers or teams in open competition.

 

Race Event Follow Up:

Prepare timely post event reports to include a review of tyre performance or any other information required by R&D,  actual sales units vs forecast, event P&L vs forecast and stock management to ensure all tyres taken to the event are accounted for as sold, FOC or returned to the warehouse. Prepare one pager to be shared with Sales & Marketing teams: race results & general info for wide audience

 

Public Relations & Media:

Being able to deal with questions from press & media at the event but also pre- post event. Keep an eye on (social) media content related to International Racing activities and act upon when our brand name or reputation is at stake.

 

Education/Qualifications:

  • Good general level of education in numeracy and literacy. 
  • Other language skills (european language is a plus)

 

Experience:

  • Work experience in a Motorsport environment.
  • Dealing with multiple stakeholders
  • Customer Management
  • Team Management: proven track record of managing a team of at least 10 people.
  • Experience of working in a process driven environment

 

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the Motorcycle Race market
  • Basic tyre knowledge
  • Intermediate IT Skill set including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

 

Other Requirements:

  • Required to work up to 20 weekends per year
  • Substantial travel required including EMEA and Global destinations
  • Able to organize cost efficient travel arrangements for all staff attending the events.
  • Exhibits competitive traits – ideally as a participant (current or past) in a sporting arena or racing environment
