About the Position:
The Maintenance Manager will manage/direct business center maintenance activities. This position will establish/execute maintenance and engineering objectives to continuously improve equipment reliability. The incumbent will oversee/continuously improve preventative and predictive maintenance systems. He/She will supervise the business center maintenance staff to continuously improve maintenance/engineering labor utilization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the continuous improvement of equipment reliability, by driving performance management (PM) and total productive maintenance (TPM) systems in the business center.
- Continue to develop more efficient preventative/predictive systems, with the end-goal of driving down overall maintenance downtime.
- Manage the schedules and work of the skilled trades’ associates to drive improved labor utilization. Ensure skilled trades’ associates are adequately trained.
- Analyze the costs associated with maintenance/engineering activities in the business center.
- Analyze downtime information and implement solutions to repetitive problems.
- Lead energy/environmental improvements in the business center.
- Support capital projects from a business center perspective (including participation/approval of new projects).
- Ensure business center resources complete projects (as needed).
- Manage engineering/maintenance costs of the business center in accordance with the annual operating plan (AOP).
- Continuously drive solutions that reduce cost (including labor, overtime, parts, contractors and operating items).
Education:
Bachelors degree or in lieu of degree 10+ years experience working in engineering/maintenance management required
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience working in maintenance/engineering management in an industrial environment with a bachelors degree
- 10+ years of experience working in maintenance/engineering management in an industrial environment without a bachelors degree
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives including preventativve/ predictive maintenance systems
- Experience in a union environment desired
Skills and Abilities:
- Requires the ability to direct cross-functional work groups to achieve business center equipment reliability objectives, goals and tiimelines
- Knowledge of computerized layouts, spreadsheets and database management
- Strong communication, business, technical, analytical, and planning skills
- Ability to understand plant layouts, capital estimating, associate-man computations, tire cost structure, and manufacturing equipment processes
