Program Description

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is looking for talented leaders to significantly strengthen its leadership depth and play an integral role in the current and future success of the organization. The Manufacturing Co-op Program provides business and engineering students with practical work experience in leadership and technical areas. The program allows the organization to build a pipeline of candidates for future permanent openings, and the students gain a better understanding of the various job opportunities available throughout Goodyear.

 

This position will be responsible for working with the Engineering, Maintenance or Quality staff on various challenging projects in a large tire manufacturing facility located in Fayetteville, NC.  Work is challenging and hands-on in a manufacturing environment.  Interns can expect to spend 75% of their day on the plant production floor and 25% at their computer. Engineers will be performing machine modifications, designing modifications, assisting in maintenance activities, working on safety items; working with PLCs and performing some routine engineering administrative tasks. This Internship is for persons who want to learn about manufacturing, enjoy doing rather than conceptualizing and are comfortable working with people and around machinery. The hours are generally M-F, 7:00am-3:00p, but flexibility is occasionally needed depending on the nature of specific projects.

  

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA
  • Must have completed first year of classes (incoming sophomore level or higher)
  • Prior co-op/internship experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong communication skills
