About the Position:
Support plant by interfacing with plant quality, technology (Q-Tech) and manufacturing. Ensure quality systems integrity. Implement new products/processes and resolve product performance issues. Achieve cost savings through improvement initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead activities that involve issuing reports, conducting product quality audits, issuing/dispositioning product holds and maintaining/interpreting product, process and material specifications related to maintaining/improving the product quality within the manufacturing process.  

  • Drive activities that involve facilitating the development of builds/trials, issuing product, process or material specifications, analyzing data and conducting process/equipment trials related to improving manufacturing capability and competitiveness.

  • Develop/Implement activities involving continuous improvement tools, analysis of product irregularities, recommending solutions and facilitating cost-down initiatives related to improving product costs.

  • Train/Instruct appropriate team members and provide day-to-day floor support. 

  • Research, analyze, identify and correct unacceptable performance through analysis and technical knowledge of the product process (including waste and cost reduction).

 

Education:
Bachelors degree or in lieu of degree 8 + years of experience in manufacturing and/or continuous improvement experience required

 

Experience:

  • 3 + years of experience in manufacturing and/or continuous improvement with a degree, or 8+ years of experience without a degree

  • Solid understanding of product quality, waste reduction and experience in understanding product integrity

  • Experience in a union environment

  • Specific experience in tire manufacturing processes desired

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of tire specifications, tire construction, manufacturing equipment and the manufacturing process

  • Must be analytical and able to organize data and communicate to all levels of organization

  • Ability to influence floor/staff associates in all activities 

  • Knowledge of statistics, statistical procedures and basic product design desired
