Maintenance Reliability Lead

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Maintenance and reliability lead oversees maintenance execution in the plant, manages maintenance shift supervisors, and works closely with Operations and Maintenance leadership.

The individual will generate reports, communicate with all levels of plant leadership, and assist in trouble shooting down equipment when requested.

The incumbent will perform but not limited to evaluating directs report, set clear goals, coaches and counsels direct reports, and deliver additional support and training while following administrative procedures to ensure that the work is performed in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all assigned maintenance activities are being performed safely and according to plant and corporate safety standards and policies.

  • Develops a high proficiency while working within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)/SAP and utilizes its functionality in managing shift maintenance activities.

  • Evaluates Maintenance Shift Manager’s performance, following process and procedures, and provides coaching and mentoring for development.

  • Communicates regularly with Operations to mitigate conflict and reports status updates for work not able to be performed.

  • Routinely attends the planning and scheduling meeting to deliver status and expertise on planned jobs to be executed.

  • Assists and performs troubleshooting in the field, supports Maintenance Shift Supervisor and craft skills crews with retrieving needs parts and components, reviews historical notes, and administers guidance for follow-up work.

  • Identifies skill level of responsible personnel, administers counseling and coaching, and seeks and identifies training opportunities as required.

  • Understands, communicates, and drives department metrics and supports overall plant business drivers.

  • Maintains accountability of personnel, delivers reward and punishment when necessary, and attends union meeting for grievance resolution as required.

 

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree Or in lieu of degree 10 or more years of experience in engineering / maintenance management in an industrial environment.

Desired:  Master's degree.

 

Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience in engineering or maintenance management in an industrial environment.

  • Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives, including preventative/Predictive Maintenance systems.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to explain and interpret information, ideas, or make recommendations daily.

  • Highly developed in conflict resolution

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills to provide effective direction and resolution.

  • Capable of establishing positive working relationships and works well with individuals within and outside the workgroup.

  • Strong administrative skills to utilize CMMS system, typing, MS Word and Excel

  • Self-starter and have a high degree of personal motivation, ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, strong team player and an ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.

  • The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing.  Must be able to visually interpret documents and drawings.
