About the Position 

The Product Stewards are responsible for a variety of responsibilities associated with Chemical Regulatory Management to support various aspects of Goodyear's Business Model on a global basis. They partner with the Business to advise and guide regarding regulations and restrictions around materials in various aspects of our Business including raw materials and final product composition.  

 

Contributes to our company-wide assessment and strategy of the chemical composition of materials used in our operations and final product composition. The incumbent will be responsible for representing the company in externally facing organizations focused on researching materials and impacts related to our products; Leading continuous improvement activities related to stewardship including process, documentation and education efforts; Participate in assigned internal material related councils contributing to strategy development; May have responsibility for independently reviewing supplier material information to qualify if it is in the required legal format, conducting reviews of all classes of in-line and new development materials for compliance to applicable standards and customer requirements and advising the business on any identified environmental, health or safety risks; Has advanced knowledge of chemical regulations; Acts as an advisor for lower level stewards.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and drawing conclusions and recommendations regarding topics related to existing regulations and customer requirements around materials and products.
  • Represents the company position in external-facing organizations related to researching materials and impacts related to our products.
  • Independently completing and guiding on the preparation of responses to customer requests in product declarations, reviewing material information for compliance, and advising on environmental, health and safety risks on all classes of materials to other functional business areas (eg technology).
  • Leads process improvement, documentation and education efforts and acts as an advisor to lower-level Product Stewardship Associates.

 

Required Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. 
  • Master’s degree in relevant field desired. 
  • Project Management and additional related certifications desired.
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Stewardship.
  • Experience with other functional areas, such as Engineering, Sales, etc.
  • Experience with external organizations (i.e., Trade Associations).
  • Prior mentoring or supervising experience (desired).

  • Expert knowledge of chemical regulations and customer requirements.

  • Project management.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Research skills, strong data analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
