The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Direct Tax COE EMEA, the Senior Specialist Direct Tax COE EMEA will be part of the Direct Tax Center of Excellence and will support the Manager Direct Tax COE EMEA and the Manager Tax DACH on US GAAP and German GAAP tax accounting, Quarterly FIN48 questionnaires, cash tax forecasting (AOP), completion of US tax questionnaires, withholding tax formalities, with regards to the Goodyear entities in Germany. The position interacts internally with various departments and occasionally with outside tax advisors.      

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Assist on US GAAP and German GAAP deferred tax accounting, preparation of Quarterly FIN48 questionnaires, preparation of cash tax forecasting, completion of US tax questionnaires, preparation of withholding tax formalities.
  • German wage Tax calculation and reporting of gifts and incentives (based on info received from other departments – pre-defined procedure)
  • Assisting in the compliance with SOX Tax controls in Germany
  • Extract info from SAP and collect info from other departments on intercompany transactions. Assist in the annual preparation of the local transfer pricing file (completion of the numbers)
  • Compiling accounting information (extract from SAP) to allow the German tax advisor to prepare the corporate income tax returns including the preparation of a consolidation of 3 company codes in SAP
  • Work with the Tax manager DACH and the Manager Direct Tax COE EMEA to compile accounting information (extract from SAP) to reply to questions of the German tax authorities (tax audits)

 

To Join Our Team, You Will Need

 

Education:

  • A university degree in accounting (tax knowledge / education is a plus)

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible accounting experience.  Ideally with some exposure or understanding of tax accounting (booking of tax provision/payments
  • Strong IT skills (able to work with large spreadsheets, good with MS programs) and experience with SAP
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, German GAAP and (German) tax legislation /general tax concepts a plus
  • Big four and/or US multinational company experience and experience in US GAAP (deferred) tax accounting a plus.

 

Knowledge and skills:

  • accounting knowledge (debits and credits), good understanding how transactions (e.g. sales of goods, recharges of costs) are booked in SAP, be able to follow through transactions (tax and non- tax entries) and retrieving invoices/entries from SAP - exposure to other SAP modules (e.g. asset accounting) a plus.
  • interested in learning new things. Interested in learning more about tax
  • works well in a team (4-5 people) but able to work independently on certain topics and then present the result in the small team
  • can build up good working relationships/large network: collect info from other people/other departments for tax return/ tax audit/… (be able to figure out who to contact for what topic)
  • Good English knowledge. Other European languages would be a plus (German, French or Italian).                                                                                                                    
  • Demonstrates ethical and moral behavior, unquestionable integrity and character.           
  • Self-starter and a positive "can do" attitude.
  • Stress resistance considering changing circumstances and unexpected events.
