Sustainability Specialist Staff

Primary Purpose

The Sustainability Specialist Staff will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with sustainability knowledge.

This position contributes to our company-wide strategic sustainability efforts by analyzing data and learning to use sustainability tools to guide our sustainability initiatives with the goal of ensuring that the company’s sustainability efforts enhance business performance and supports the long-term interests of the company.  

The incumbent will be responsible for research and summarizing information on competitors, peers, industry and sustainability topics - Preparing initial responses to customer requests under supervision. He/She will problem-solve, while building knowledge on assigned sustainability focus areas. This role will also be responsible for developing and tracking key metrics on Goodyear's sustainability performance.

Requirements

• 1 or more years of experience in Sustainability (could include relevant internships/co-ops)

Primary Duties

1) Sustainability Knowledge:

- Learning assigned focus areas (i.e., energy, natural rubber, reporting)

- Research/Summarization of sustainability topics

- Goodyear sustainability data

- Development/Tracking of key sustainability performance metrics

2) Competitive Intelligence and Benchmarking: 

- Collect/Summarize information on competitors, peers and industry sustainability performance

3) Customer Requests: 

- Prepare initial responses under supervision of more senior sustainability associates

4) Problem-Solving:

- Participation/Support for problem-solving and learning of continuous improvement tools

5) Sustainability Tools and Methodologies: 

• Learning tools and possibly pursuing certifications (i.e., life cycle analysis, materiality assessments, reporting, energy/water management, etc.)
