About the Position
Goodyear will be celebrating 100 years of flight for our Blimp in 2025!
We are excited to introduce this newly opened opportunity to work for the Goodyear Blimp team and travel the country with the airship and crew. Looking for someone that is highly collaborative and thrives in a team-based environment, this role will hit the ground running by supporting the team in a variety of facets and becoming an expert on all things Goodyear Blimp. You will perform duties necessary to maintain safe and efficient operation of the airship. While at the hangar or on the road, will represent Goodyear and Airship Operations in a professional and appropriate manner, including various interactions with the general public where positive attitude and representation are vital for success.
Some of the daily responsibilities will include participating in safely launching and retrieving the airship, and tending to pressure watches, in rotation with other team members (including overnight shifts). The Airship Crew will also drive various ground service equipment (GSE), as detailed below. On a regular basis will also assist Airship Mechanics, GSE Mechanics, and other technicians in daily tasks as required.
Primary Responsibilities
- The Airship Crew will work in conjunction with other blimp team members to ensure that all Airship operations run smoothly and efficiently, both at the base and on the road (usually up to 100 days/ year).
- Participates as a member of the ground crew in launching and retrieving the airship as required in a safe and acceptable manner. Perform airship pressure watches as needed. Maintain a safe moored condition for the airship including security, proper trim, pressure, and ballasting and cleanliness of both airship and GSE. Tend the airship for pressure watches (helium & air) as scheduled in a rotation with coworkers, including overnight shifts.
- Assist in the safe handling of the airship and its passengers and drive all necessary equipment as needed including bus, semi-truck, mast truck, van, pickup truck/trailer combination vehicles.
- Provide a positive public image for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and the Airship Operations team to the general public, media outlets, and customers. Represent the Company and Airship Operations in a professional and appropriate manner.
- Perform maintenance/janitorial duties as directed by the Manager of Ground Crew Operations/Assistant Crew Chief.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Previous aviation experience and commercial driving experience desired not required
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs regularly
- Ability to obtain a CDL within 180 days
- Ability to obtain and pass DOT physical within 90 days
The pay range for this position is $48,184 - $51,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such-as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. The pay range for this position is $47,000 - $62,000/yr plus OT; however, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such-as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
