About the Position

Goodyear is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Innovation Lab Akron. As part of Goodyear’s innovation network, the Innovation Lab Akron has a mission to connect with with fleet operators and and mobility-related startups to help maximize vehicle uptime and efficiency by providing tire intelligence and proactive services to for fleets and other mobility providers.


This new role will be tasked with


  • Creating and developing customer relationships and collaborations to enahnce light vehicle fleet offerings
  • Expand current customer relations and develop new ones through providing insights and digital capabilities to compliment our tire portfolio
  • Build strategies to expand customer base, add new markets, and help define operational activities for new venture
  • Onboard customers and ensure smooth transition into operational phases


Primary Responsibilities

  • Research and execute business development efforts including outreach, pitching, and relationship management to identify new market opportunities and ultimately capitalize on those through growth with current customers and expansion of customer base
  • Project manage new customer contracts and onboarding, in collaboration with finance, legal, operations, engineering and product teams
  • Drive account management and customer satisfaction; and inform product team on insights, feedback and improvements
  • Drive expansion strategy through market research intelligence and the maintenance and implement of systems for tracking business development and customer relationships


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors in engineering, marketing, economics, social sciences, or similar required
  • MBA or MS desired
  • 5+ years of experience working in innovation projects or equivalent entrepreneurship experiences
  • Prior experience incubating a product and driving early stage growth through acquiring customers
  • Experience in operations, innovation, customer facing roles, business analytics and market research
  • Decisiveness under ambiguous circumstances
  • Experience in designing iterative experiments and managing partner relations


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to interview prospective accounts to understand their business processes, needs, and wants.
  • Prior experience with Sales Force (or similar).
  • Ability to contribute in a cross functional team environment
  • Ability to travel 10-30% on average
  • Analytical skills for market research
  • Ability to build and manage new customer relations
  • Communication skills - ability to clearly communicate progress of projects to stakeholders
