The Territory Sales Specialist is responsible for the customer interface (at the field level) for high volume/strategic Goodyear G3X customers (categorized as "Strategic", "Opportunistic" and "Tactical" dealer account tiers) and the day-to-day relationship with Goodyear Wholesale Business Managers who service these accounts to ensure alignment/execution of the Consumer Replacement Wholesale Strategy. This includes effective two-way communications and profitable growth of G3 products through a consultative sales approach - Leveraging best practice solutions and category-level planning as the resource expert (within the assigned territory). Prospect potential accounts and work with wholesale distributors to maximize participation in programming.
This position is located in the Minneapolis, MN area and would also cover up to Chicago, IL.
Execute Wholesale Channel Strategy
- Identify strategic, opportunistic and tactical independent dealer accounts (which align with Consumer Replacement Strategy
- Leverage Sell In product assortment/program participation - Increasing Goodyear sales and share of account (SOA)
- Provide day-to-day support to dealers (in the field) to grow sales, SOA and program participation levels
- Leverage Sell Out programs, training and incentives (with person behind the counter [PBC]) to increase G3 sales and SOA
- Monitor/Communicate competitive activity, pricing and positioning that may affect Goodyear Channel strategy
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development/execution of Channel/Category business plans (with assigned accounts). Increase SOA and unit sales volume with an emphasis on HVA (high value added) products. Includes selling of the assortment, new product execution and the achievement of scorecard targets.
- Prepare detailed analyses of data/reports to identify opportunities for each customer. Leverage defined processes, utilize resources (Business Insight Analysts and Category/Best Practices Teams) and program elements to develop unique business plans that provide incremental value to assigned accounts.
- Evaluate/Assess competitor products, prices and position. Report relevant information to customer teams and evaluate trends/impacts observed (within assigned territory). Provide selling advantages to applicable staff for Goodyear products relative to competitors.
- Develop relationships/network with internal customer teams. Align with functional organizations (working with managers) to meet customer service goals.
- Miscellaneous reporting duties related to territory/associate expense management. Participate in the development/on-boarding of new WDSs (ride-a-long opportunities, mentoring, etc). Assist managers (as needed). Develop a complete/robust personal development plan.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Required. Masters degree preferred.
Experience:
- Two or more years experience in tire industry field sales and/or customer development/operational support
- Prior experience in a Sell-Out function
- Experience making independent decisions and working to achieve sales goals -Without the need for managerial direction
- Demonstrated analytics competency - Leading to an actionable business plan
- Exposure to Channels within a tire, consumer packaged good (CPG) or other relevant industry - Desired.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- Ability to be perceived a subject matter expert (SME)
- Advanced understanding of the tire industry and in-depth knowledge of Goodyear products
- Advanced written/verbal communication/presentation skills with persuasive sales ability (with a customer service orientation)
- Demonstrated creativity, analytical skills and business results
- Intermediate computer skills to effectively use MS Office 365 and in-house programs such as CRM, TPS, SAP and EDW
