About the Position

Manage P/L responsibility for external EBIT to the Chemical group from existing products and new opportunities within the Consumer Product Materials group to meet our five year EBIT targets, while maximizing the return on assets. Build and maintain relationships with our customer base - understand their needs and priorities to best service them and the marketplace. Gather and Analyze market intelligence to maximize business opportunities. Product positioning for price, segment and global regions. Work closely with associates from R&D, Manufacturing, Finance, Customer Service, Warehouse & Shipping, Credit - Accounts Receivables, and other Commercial roles in order to efficiently meet the demands of the business and service the needs our customers.           


Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage Customer Base - Build and maintain customer relationships.  Meet with customers on a regular basis. Position Goodyear as the customers first choice, maintain and/or grow market share. Negotiate contracts, update pricing, manage monthly volumes, service technical and logistics needs, maximize gross margins. 
  • Maintain Market Awareness - Continually monitor factors affecting the chemical markets, energy industry, and general economy to allow quick reaction to changes affecting our business. Track competitive factors of pricing and supply to maximize our price strategies.
  • Develop pricing strategy and product positioning relative to the competitive landscape within each market segment.   
  • Manage Financial Returns - Work with Segment Managers to maximize the financial return of assets, analyze external opportunities to maximize gross margins in order to meet the P/L commitments of the business. Manage cash flow items like inventory levels of prime and off spec materials, and monitoring collections of all customers.
  • Develop new sales prospects through market research and business contacts to grow and diversify opportunities.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, other engineering or related field is required.
  • Degree specifically in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other engineering degree preferred. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) years working experience, preferrably in the chemical or petrochemical industry, or in industries operating downstream of Chemical products (i.e. Tires, Industrial Products, Consumer Goods, Adhesives, etc.).
  • 3+ years of relevant sales/marketing/product management preferred, engineering and/or field sales background a plus.
  • Successful track record with contract negotiations, supplier/customer relationships, and management influence.
  • Experience in planning direction and implementing a strategic/marketing plan over a planning cycle.    
  • Knowledge of effective sales & marketing strategies and product development.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Ability to interface with customers at all levels of their organization (purchasing, technical, manufacturing, and executive).
  • Strong analytical, strategic, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & SAP is desired.
