About the Position

  • Secure supplies for production & plants; develop and implement local procurement negotiation strategy; plan and execute demand aggregation and supplier rationalization of assigned categories; contribution to global finance results in a climate of cost reduction, continuity of supply and cash preservation;  develop and implement secondary source plan aligned with R&D, Divisional Engineering, Production, Vendor and Market trends.
  • Contribute to Goodyear's EBIT/cash flow objective through effective negotiation of payment terms and assigned categories costs.  Develop and analyze sourcing data to develop the appropriate negotiating strategy that will maximize the savings opportunities.  
  • Serve in consulting role to Goodyear for the assigned categories markets.
  • Serve as the commercial interface to the vendors for engineering and drive change management in the assigned categories area.
  • Committed to following the policies related to purchasing, SOX, HSE and quality.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Savings – Develop and manage opportunities for the assigned categories commodities in order to meet or exceed EBIT and Cost Avoidance targets using a collaborative approach with engineering, production and the supply base.
  • Advanced Purchasing -  Manage collaborative working relationships between divisional engineering, prodution, corporate (NAT) engineering and the supply base to develop alternate sources of materials or suppliers. 
  • Continuity of Supply - Ensure supply via the current supply base in the area of assigned categories by applying the appropriate strategies and available procurement tools for Chemical Division's demand requirements.  Identify risk in the current supply base and drive alternative supplies through the company
  • Produce analysis from market reserch and potential demand aggregation in the area of assigned categories to exercise maximum influence upon suppliers and serve as a market consultant to internal stake holders.  
  • Purchase Orders & Contracts - Create/modify purchase orders and contracts according to the policy.  Responsible for the process related to payments, invoices exceptions, resolve ordering and invoicing issues.  
  • Legal Contract Management - Execute and maintain legal agreements.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • BS Business or Engineering discipline required; BS Mechanical or Chemical Engineering desired
  • Minimum 5 years of direct buying experience, preferably in Chemical Raw Materials
  • Negotiation skills including the ability to understnd other's motivations
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgement and analysis
  • Ability to synthesize/analyze infornation and present in an effective manner

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of plant operations and an ability to read technical specifications and drawings is required.
  • Knowledge of SAP, planning, decision making, strategy oriented, internet skills, extensive experience preparing management reports, course data analysis skills, computer skills (MS Office)
  • Presentation skills, influence skills, team player, results oriented, ability to handle stress, strong communication skills
  • Familiarity with annual reports and financial analysis
