Role Description
Quality NPI engineer shall be responsible for industrialization of new products and be part of assessment whether the Plant has the technology for production of a new tire.
Main responsibilities:
Development of specifications and regular updating.
Cooperation in preparation of materials for training, participation in training of new employees for NPI.
Participate in various cross-functional projects (scrap, OE, tire weight etc.), determining the commercial number and creating appropriate file on the network.
Create new database on network, for a new product, with associated moulds.
Checking whether a valid specification is being used, check and fill out the project data log (PDL).
Check the package for product development (EDP/CCSD, Tread pattern ...).
Update mould data in SAP TP0.
For new compounds, define in SAP GP3 specific gravity.
Check whether materials are in line with Plant’s requirements.
Enter all data for testing in the testing plan.
Send requests for new moulds, if necessary.
Cap strip winding calculation.
Transfer specifications to SAP and re-checking the regularity of the entry, signing and publishing specifications.
Create plan for execution of experiments.
Plan quantities of blank dies so as to meet all requirements of the experiments and projects.
Ordering raw materials in sister Plants through the system of raw materials purchasing in cooperation with the purchasing team.
Ensuring all materials for implementation of experiments are there.
Prior to building, check if all components are ready and within the prescribed tolerance limits.
Control execution of trials in building.
Validate all semi-products to spec.
Coordinate trial activities in curing.
Review report on visual inspection of tires.
Check tires after curing and take photos of deficiencies.
Prepare and coordinate tires for dispatch out of the Plant and check profile and evaluate extrusion of semi-products.
Suggestions for improvement of semi-products’ contours.
Review and understanding of reports on tire sections, cut tire section, suggestions for potential corrections.
Defines conditions and reviews of static and dynamic test results, update all data on the network.
Keep all physical documents in registers for a specific spec.
Participate in presentation of a project for introduction of new designs and tire sizes.
Monitor newly included specs on the list for industrialization.
Review and understanding of received documentation/specification for a new tire in the system SAP TP0, attachments in SCC09/10 – preliminary spec.
Making parameter calculations for new tires.
Draw profiles of semi-products for extrusion and send requests for cutting a die, enter profiles in the database.
Check if there is all documentation for moulds in SAP TP0 and if they are physically located in the Plant.
Meeting with NPI process holders on a weekly level and creation of plans for production of trial tires.
Suggestion to make changes to construction for the next development iteration, monitor project timeline.
Prepare the package for release of tires into regular production.
Check if all necessary documentation is available, check if the tire inscription matches the inscription on the construction.
Agreeing on conditions for tire fitment in curing for improvement of results.
In case of discovered tire issues, NPI engineer is involved in the condition analysis in cooperation with the other departments.
As a part of the mixed NPI team, the engineer participates in the discussion about the experiences of the previous introduction of new products.
NPI engineer helps in the process of FMEA - failure mode effect analysis creation based on DFMEA-design failure mode effect analysis.
Upon release of a new tire design in production, development center will agree which additional activities will be monitored in that process.
Requests changes and approvals of specifications.
Requirements:
VI/VII degree of education (Technical or Engineering background)
Excellent computer skills and use of MS Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Advanced English language skills
Team spirit
Adaptability, patience, ability to meet tight deadlines
