Position Description

The Accounting Manager  functions much like a Controller and is responsible to lead the development of all Accounting and FP&A activities at the Lawton plant – including strategic plans and financial initiatives and to provide financial linkage between North American Tire objectives, goals, strategies and measures of those relating to the plant. These responsibilities include developing the monthly plant financial forecast and plant operational reporting and will coordinate with NAT Manufacturing Finance group to complete monthly reporting and analysis associates to ensure competition of plant level analysis activities and partner with members of the Plant Leadership Team and other NAT manufacturing finance leadership to ensure plant and finance goals and objectives are achieved and where appropriate develop people resources.  This key stakeholder will have regular interaction/communication with the Plant Controller.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work with Plant accounting and finance teams, as well as with other plant associates and NAT’s divisional management, to implement effective financial analysis tools and processes to improve the plants’ financial performance. Participate in financial development activities such as the annual operating plan, monthly/quarterly reporting and special analyses as needed. This position provides financial analysis for areas such as, environmental compliance and quality production. This position assists in the development and management of the plant’s 18 month rolling forecast, while supervising/conducting factory variance analysis for the plant and NAT contracts.
  • Lead and perform cost and financial analysis for plant operating team. Types of analysis includes variance analysis for conversion and material cost, continuous improvement project analysis (Pre- and Post-project implementation) and financial risk assessments
  • Develop and supervise cost analysts, while providing analytical tools and cost reports, analysis and insights to support all Business Centers and functional groups in the manufacturing facility team. Lead and perform plant cost analyses related to conversion cost and the cost of material for the plant, evaluate organizational design improvements and standardize blocks of work.
  • Manage the Capital Portfolio Planning process and assist in the payback and project evaluation as part of the requested process. Validate anticipated project benefit to the plant via post-project audits
  • Work with the Business Center Managers and Area Managers to develop strategic initiatives and cost savings initiatives. Provide insights and educate to shop floor leaders on making better business decisions.


Required Experience and Education:

  • Undergraduate Degree with a concentration in a business related field (i.e. accounting, finance, economics, etc.
  • 5+ years of progressively more responsible experience in accounting/analysis, with 3+ years in a lead management role.
  • Experience interacting with operational and financial senior management teams and experience with plant standard cost system is desired.
  • Experience supporting large operations, business or support functions is desired
  • Experienced building highly performing finance teams and developing talent for the organizational is desired


Personal Skills/Attributes/and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and practical skills in ERP, SAP and Hyperion as applicable to the region is desired.
  • Demonstrates a high level of understanding of how key finance and manufacturing decisions impact the business units.
  • Able to analyze and grasp a situation quickly from different perspectives and create well-reasoned solutions.
  • Highly organized and has the ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.
