Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Robotics Engineer will support all new and existing automation manufacturing technology projects, automation continuous improvement efforts, and implement best
automation methods and standardization processes. The incumbent will work closely with manufacturing engineers, facility engineers, supervisors and hourly personnel to
support existing production robotic systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Support all new automation manufacturing technology projects, automation continuous improvement efforts, and implement best automation methods/standardization processes. Troubleshoot manufacturing issues in automation cells. Recommends and implements improvements and solutions to support manufacturing. Analyze and interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing operation sequences, tooling functions, and process specifications. Issue engineering change requests (ECR) to improve or eliminate manufacturing issues in sustaining production operations as related to automation. Provide support for major automation programs and continuous improvement projects.

Responsible for research, development, and implementation of automation equipment and components on new and existing programs aimed at mitigating safety and ergonomic risk, increasing product quality, and reducing overall cost. Responsible for creation of automated cell concepts, authors Robotics/Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) controlling software, ensures proper operation of cells, program manages automation projects, and ensures compliance to safety and Robotic Industries Association (RIA) standards. Monitor and maintain equipment performance and diagnose/repair issues as needed. Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure product consistency and adherence to standards.

Identify, justify, and implement new technology and manufacturing techniques to improve safety/ergonomics, reduce manufacturing cost (labor, material, inventory, scrap), and improve product/process quality. Collaborate with and supports cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of automated systems in support of manufacturing. Collaborate with Engineering and Tool Engineering on automation solutions and build plan methodology for new programs. Give input and feedback on associated design criteria. Collaborate with Information Technology (IT) team to ensure seamless integration between automated systems and network infrastructure

Provide robotics training and technical support to Production and Skilled Trade Team members. Train all in-house skilled trades in a variety of robotics equipment, preventative maintenance, and methodologies. Ensure that operator safety devices function properly while programming complex robotic systems. Troubleshoot and train others on identifying root causes of robotic equipment failures.

Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime. Develop and maintain documentation of procedures, training materials, and troubleshooting guides for equipment operation and maintenance. Work with vendors and suppliers regarding sourcing, technology information updates. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies related to automation and robotics in manufacturing. Support all new automation manufacturing technology projects, automation continuous improvement efforts, and implement best automation methods and standardization processes. Troubleshoot manufacturing issues in automation cells, recommends, and implements improvements and solutions to support.
Education & Certifications:

Required: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer, Robotics Engineering or a related field

Desired: Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer, Robotics Engineering or a related field
Experience:
-
5 or more years of experience in robotics programming, machinery maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting

Experience with robotic systems such as Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arms (SCARA), Delta, Cartesian, and collaborative robots
-
Experience in robotic programming for manufacturing processes
-
Experience with Fanuc Robots R-200iB or M-710lc

Certified Motion Control Professional, Certified Robot Integrator, Certified System Integrator or Certified Vision Professional - Desired
Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities:
-
Strong background in computer programming, networking, and robotics, as well as experience in machinery and equipment maintenance

Strong proficiency in computer programming, networking, and software development

Familiarity with PLC programming and Human Machine Interface (HMI) design

Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and mechanical aptitude

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Computer Proficiency (MS office, AutoCAD, blueprint reading, Rockwell Automation Software, etc)
