Primary Purpose of Position:

Goodyear's Medicine Hat manufacturing plant is seeking an experienced and versatile Electrical Engineer to manage, plan and execute both administrative and practical aspects of our production facility.



  • Design and develop and maintain a variety of electrical systems - including both legacy and state of the art manufacturing systems and equipment.
  • Manage and supervise a team of electricians, as well as provide support and consultation to other multi-trade and production departments.
  • Prepare electrical schematics, manufacturing drawings and assembly instructions for electrical sub-assemblies and wiring harnesses - including development and updating of existing blueprints and plans.
  • Select and validate electrical components, and work with vendors to reduce cost and lead time.
  • Coordinate with electrical subcontractors and electricians during production, testing and projects.
  • Direct, teach or perform hands-on wiring and assembly for electrical panels and wiring harnesses as required.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical or electrical system issues.
  • Provide accurate documentation including bills of materials, engineering change orders, test validation reports, root cause analysis, failure mode and effect analysis, and production checklists.
  • Ensure that systems and processes conform to all applicable Goodyear standards, and meet or exceed a variety of global standards (e.g. ISO or IATF, Canadian Electrical Code, UL standards and EU directives).
  • Travel as required to other Goodyear sites, for training and consultation duties
  • Work with the Goodyear team (both locally and globally), project managers, software designers, toolmakers and electricians to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a complete, functional automation system
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures



  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), and licensed as a Professional Engineer
  • Experience in power distribution circuits, cable and fuse selection, etc.
  • Experience in hands-on wiring of electrical panels
  • Understanding of manufacturing process and direct and management experience in manufacturing environment
  • Experience in commissioning and installation
  • Experience in drafting electrical CAD drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent
  • Management/supervisory experience in leading and directing a small team of professional tradespersons.
  • Strong understanding of grounding, shielding, motor control, and data signaling principles
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills


  • Electrical Engineering: 10 years (required)
