Electrical Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist and lead efforts to ensure production equipment complies with all safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Take responsibility for engineering expense and capital budget compliance.
  • Take responsibility for design, installation, modification, and maintainability of new and existing plant equipment.
  • Identify unacceptable performance through data gathering and/or analysis and technical knowledge of the product and process including waste and cost reduction.
  • Prepare cost estimates, prepare budgets, review design, supervise installation and commissioning.
  • Research new equipment, systems, and processes to advance plant operations on smaller projects.
  • Assist in contractor management process and periodically audit contractor's work to ensure that safe work practices and standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Direct and lead the implementation of quality, cost, and delivery initiatives to support the Napanee plant with the goal to continuously improve operating results.  
  • Audit and ensure accurate and statistical reports for tracking process and quality related items and make recommendations for implementation of solutions.
  • Analyze product irregularities and recommend corrective action.
  • Work in partnership with on-shift managers to evaluate and manage quality performance trends.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Preference given to Ontario P.Eng designation.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Equipment design and project management experience is preferred.
  • Ability to understand electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
  • Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics.
  • Ability to understand and design modern safety control systems.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot machine problems.
  • Experience with industrial PLCs as well as AC Variable Frequency Drives and DC drives.
  • PLC Ladder Logic programming experience is an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
