About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Retread Operations Manager. In this critically important Operations Manager role, you will provide leadership and strategic direction in operational excellence, people leadership, safety leadership, financial management and foster collaboration across the manufacturing teams and the broader fleet business

Reporting to the VP Fleet ANZ, this role is responsible for:

  • The achievement of GDTA’s safety objectives and minimise the company risk exposure/liabilities by leading and monitoring compliance as well as managing the implementation of EH&S policies and programs within the retreading business.
  • Ensure activities within the manufacturing plants are aligned to meet profitability targets by developing and implementing budgets, policies for cost and stock control and asset management, monitoring financial performance and directing corrective action as required.
  • Ensure activities of Product are aligned to meet profitability targets by developing and implementing improvement projects, policies for cost control, and monitoring financial pricing and directing corrective action as required.
  • Prepare retread volume plans, based on history and commercial retread sales forecast
  • Provide 18 month rolling forecast for Australia, New Zealand and Asia Demand
  • Provide clear leadership to the plant managers and the retread planner by regularly communicating overall objectives and progress to plans.

Oversee all purchases made by Retreading to ensure best price, good quality and consistent supply. This includes the identification, development and purchase of equipment

About You

You will have previous experience as a Manufacturing Manager of 5+ years. Your experience will include;

  • Demonstrated commercial success in a multi-site manufacturing environment.  
  • Tertiary qualification/Diploma in Business-related degree preferred or equivalent business experience gained from a manufacturing environment.
  • Tyre industry/automotive industry knowledge desirable but not essential.
  • Proven ability to operate and deliver in a highly pressurised, face paced and competitive manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent leader with proven experience in developing manufacturing best practice.
  • Must have proven ability to make the link between operational demand and application requirements and manufacturing volumes.
  • Prior experience in managing a manufacturing plant in a similar industry is preferred.
  • Experience managing remote teams.
  • Commercial experience with an understanding of cost effective and productivity measures and levers.

Furthermore, you will possess the following skills & knowledge:

  • MS Office - Word, SAP, PowerPoint, Excel. Excellent analytical/reporting ability.
  •  Time management skills. Attention to detail. Ability to manage a project on time/to budget across cross- functional teams.
  •  Flexibility. Good process improvement skills and initiative - must be prepared to challenge and work to improve the status quo. Must be a key business partner with the operations and sales team.
  • Good financial/business acumen to understand business drivers and effect change.
  • Exceptional people manager - ability to drive and motivate.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Is a "safety leader" for the business.
