Key Responsibilities

 

  1. Trusted Business-Legal Partner: As the head of the Goodyear Brasil Legal Team, ensure all businesses and functions in Brasil are well-supported and compliant with relevant laws and regulations. Foster a Culture of Integrity & Accountability while promoting systematized cross-functional collaboration. Report to Associate General Counsel – Latin America and matrix report to General Manager - Brazil, providing comprehensive legal counsel on a wide range of matters, including driving high-priority projects within Brasil and LA, key local business and functional projects, contracts, marketing, employment, labor, union negotiations, environmental, and regulatory matters.  Go-to person in Brazil for all legal, compliance, and government relations matters.

 

  1. Member of the Brazil Executive Committee:  Actively contribute to the Brazil Executive Committee, playing a key role in strategic discussions and decision-making.  Support the achievement of Goodyear Brazil’s strategic objectives through legal insights and strategic guidance.

 

  1. Member of the Latin America Region Legal Team:  Collaborate with the Latin America Region Legal Team to share best practices and foster a culture of knowledge-sharing and efficiency. Contribute to regional legal activities and projects, ensuring alignment with broader Latin America objectives.

 

  1. Legal Operations Leadership: Drive Brasil Legal Operations and support LA Legal Operations, driving the growth and efficiency of legal processes within Brasil and the LA region.  Ongoing enhancement of the LA Legal Portal to support business and functional needs in Brasil and across Latin America.  Innovate and implement improvements in legal processes to boost productivity and streamline workflows within the legal team.

 

  1. Lead Special Projects: Co-lead special projects throughout Brasil and Latin America, supporting the businesses and functions with priority initiatives.

 

  1. Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for legal matters with external stakeholders, including regulators, government agencies, and industry associations (ANIP).

 

  1. Team Engagement and Development: Together with the Associate General Counsel - Latin America, drive engagement and development of Brasil Legal team members, setting them up for success.  A strong leader and people-oriented, lead and develop a high-performing Brasil legal team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment. Engage, mentor, and support legal team in their professional growth and development.

 

  1. Budget Execution and Cost Efficiency: Ensure budget execution and coordinate activities for cost efficiency, working with the Brasil and extended LA Legal Team to evaluate and optimize operations.  Drive Brasil budget planning and execution, implementing strategies for continuous cost efficiency and effective resource management.

 

  1. Collaboration and Best Practices: Work collaboratively with other members of the LA Legal Team to drive best practices, standardize processes, and drive continuous internal process improvements. Foster a culture of knowledge-sharing, efficiency, and teamwork.

 

Experiences & Skills

 

  • Degree in Law.  An additional Master’s Degree in Management (MBA) or postgraduate degree in Law is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 15 years post qualification experience as attorney. Proven experience with a wide range of areas of legal expertise such as litigation, contracts, corporate, labor, employment, intellectual property, antitrust, tax, and data privacy law.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a business/commercial environment, with sound commercial and business judgement.
  • Extensive experience serving on business management steering committees and executive leadership teams.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, leadership skills, and ethical standards.
  • Strong communicator, able to communicate in clear and concise manner, both verbally and in written formats.
  • Proven experience in managing complex legal issues, including corporate governance, compliance, and litigation.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of lawyers.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese is required.  Spanish fluency is an asset.
