Manager Goodyear Proving Grounds – Texas

 

This position has overall responsibilities for end-to-end operations of the Goodyear Proving Grounds – Texas (GPG*T). These activities include maintaining and advancing GPG*T safety leadership in continuing to foster a strong safety culture, implementing the GY People and Environmental Care Management System (PECMS) and ensuring no one gets hurt. Empower and demand each associate, contractor, visitor, and supplier speak up when they see something unsafe and conduct themselves in the safest possible manner.

 

The incumbent must be able to ensure transparent communication to all associates. Promote open communication between proving grounds leaders and their groups. Ensure each associate understands the proving grounds vision and mission relative to global technology and internal efforts to drive positive change. They will foster communication and cooperation between supervisors and ensure the team operates as one team and drives change at the intersections. They will need to be able to consider options and ramifications of decision by being decisive, clear and consistent.

 

The incumbent will manage the transition from traditional tire testing organization to support new industry direction towards EV’s, AV’s (Customer partnership support) and computer simulation (Driving simulator). While also monitor staffing needs by testing work demand and adjust staffing to accomplish business objectives while adhering to budget constraints. They must understand the current proving grounds environment and ensure programs, communication, and training are used to create a positive collaborative space.

 

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expert in driving technical solutions to meet product evaluation and customer requirements.
    • Be highly skilled at leveraging internal and external knowledge experts on available technology and emerging technologies.

    • Be an expert in leadership of teams and in development and application of project management tools.
    • Drive teams in planning for, and managing, operational risks.
    • Be proficient in successful project implementation and closeout.
    • Be an expert in addressing and resolving project conflicts.
    • Anticipate conflict and develop contingency plans.
  • Organizational Development of Team and Business Conduct:
    • Utilize competency assessment tools to identify leadership and technical proficiency gaps and develop plans to develop team members to reach higher levels of performance.
    • Serve as a technical and leadership mentor to help develop organization technical competencies.
    • Expected to develop self and others, and to model high ethical and performance standards.

 

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field.
  • Experience and leadership within product development, technical operations and quality desired.
  • 12 or more years of experience required (preferred across multiple facilities, processes, and functions).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and apply systematic problem-solving tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and teach troubleshooting for complex product and process problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, develop, and lead cross functional teams with a wide range of experience and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive an inclusive culture.
