About the Position

As part of Goodyear’s innovation network, the San Francisco Innovation Lab has a mission to connect with automakers, suppliers and mobility-related startups to build better digital products and data-driven service models for customers, autonomous vehicles and other mobility applications.  The New Venture Manager will own the user experience design process and research of the lab's products, connecting with the AndGo and Goodyer Ventures to coordinate with product managers, engineers and business designers to deliver usable and delightful customer experiences rooted in user research.  

We are looking for a strategic and design minded leader with proven experience managing innovation projects with an entrepreneurial approach to building new experiences/services.  

AndGo by Goodyear is a seamless vehicle servicing platform from Goodyear that combines predictive software, skilled technicians, and trusted national care hubs making it easier to service connected fleets with reduced downtime and disruptions.  

AndGo operates in over 15 cities in the US, with plans to further expand in the US and globally.  This platform is positioned to generate revenue with today's customers (e.g., car sharing, ride hailing), while learning and building what's required to meet the needs of future vehicle types and customers (e.g., AVs). 


This new role will be tasked with: 

  • Shaping innovation initiatives across consumer, commercial & off highway business units.  
  • Aligning regional innovation portfolio with local business unit sponsors.  
  • Developing capability for innovation in the assigned region. 


Primary Responsibilities   

Innovation strategy:  

  • Leads analysis conducted by internal & external resources to come up with new directions for the regional innovation portfolio. 
  • Business Model & Value Proposition development:  
  • Advise teams conducting business model &/or customer centered engagements in accordance to the Business Model Innovation process.  

Product/Service offering development:  

  • Guide procurement colleagues on identifying, vetting & selecting right partners for required solution developments. When appropriate, guide internal project managers on new technology developments related to new business models. Manage technology budgets & secure functional resources to work on technology projects

Incubation & scaling strategy:  

  • Lead transition of projects to incubation& support ongoing “business incubations” by consulting incubation leaders. Lead scaling strategy development & align with business units on the go to market.


  • Lead development of regional innovation team by reinforcing key concepts used in Goodyear's innovation process.


Required Education and Experience  

  • MBA/MS/MD’s degree in engineering, marketing, economics or social science required. 
    • PhD desired.  
    • Project management certification desired.  
  • 7+ years of experience in innovation, management consulting, startups, Venture Capital, or Private Equity required. 
    • PHD can be considered in lieu of some years of experience.

  • Ability to influence teams. 
  • Handling ambiguous problems & environments. 
  • Experience in understanding users in context. 
  • Experience in conducting technology trials. 
  • Experience in conducting business model experiments. 
  • Ability to articulate critical assumptions & de-risk them.
