Primary Purpose of the Position
Reporting directly to the Manager of GBS – Akron, the Senior Accounts Payable is responsible for reconciling all vendor payments daily, monitoring and correcting all electronic payments that reject, monthly GL reconciliations of about 100 accounts and the flux analysis. Analyzing and reporting to Management cash forecasting and monthly results. Various accounting responsibilities include financial analysis, month end closing activities, internal and external reporting.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for analyzing and entering cash forecasting weekly. $8 billion is paid yearly through Accounts Payable and the SLA is to be within 5% monthly. The Treasury department depends heavily on our forecast to be accurate, so they know how to distribute cash.
- Reconciliation of all Accounts Payable general ledger accounts. Responsible to ensure every account is in balance at month end. Reconciling items must be fully documented with a correction date. Accounts Payable is responsible for about 100 accounts. Also responsible for analyzing and documenting the flux in each account. Meet month end close by processing month end journal entries for all bank accounts, check reclass, debit balances
- Monitor all vendor payments daily to make sure they reconcile to the bank. Handle all payment rejects daily by working with the processing team and vendor master team to ensure corrections are made including voiding and reissuing checks for Goodyear Commercial Tire Service Centers.
- Handle all new and existing lease payments. Involves working with the Plants, IT, Procurement, and any business that leases equipment for Goodyear. Tasks include obtaining the contracts, the general ledger codes to charge, the start and end date of the lease and the monthly amount. Setting up the recurring payments in SAP. Monthly reviewing the lease expiration report and contacting the correct persons to see if the equipment is being returned or kept and handle the payments as such.
- Ensure 1099s are accurate and are sent to vendors by January 31st each year. Process including B Notices received in October. Reporting of monthly Stats to Management. All SLAs are met 100% monthly. Work on special projects as assigned.
Education & Certifications
Required:
- Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other business field.
Desired:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with of accounting, auditing &/or financial analysis experience (preferably in a large corporate or manufacturing organization or public accounting firm).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products, SAP and Service Now.
- Interpersonal skills that establish & maintain excellent relationships & credibility quickly.
- Ability to support accounting/finance decisions with logical evidence & persuasively present position.
- Familiarity with internal controls in compliance with SOX.
- Good presentation & communication skills, both verbal & written.
