IT Project Leader

​​​​​​Responsibilities

  • Work in concert with the Project Sponsor to collectively define and refine the business problem(s) being addressed by the project or program. Facilitate agreement on the high-level (program/project) goals being addressed, as well as on (metrics) measures of success.
  • Sub-divide the program/project into manageable (recommend 6 month) phases, while working with customers and Project Sponsor to ensure their (prioritized) needs are being met.
  • Initiate and plan complex and diverse programs and projects.
  • Perform personnel planning, recruitment, and provide appropriate training as required for the project.
  • Acquisition of project assets: funding, equipment, material, supplies, time.
  • Communicate with project sponsors, functional leadership, project team, customers.
  • Negotiate with the associate’s functional leader to ensure that there are clearly defined agreements on (project team members) levels of participation, timing, and resource usage length.
  • Coordinate project planning, tasks, performance reports, change control, risk and issue management.
  • Ensure that all open issues are closed, document lessons-learned and turn over the completed product of the project to the trained end-users with agreement of the Project Sponsor.
  • Contribute to and enrich both the collective project methodologies in place and central project knowledge base.

 

 

Requirements

  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or comparable professional certification is desired. Projects led must have had varying levels of complexity and/or multiple phases. 
  • Project-related and leadership experience. Leadership experience should include working with a horizontal slice of the organization, across SBU’s or functions and with varying levels of management.
  • Experience managing multiple types of projects, e.g. Software Development, Application Migration, Process Reengineering, Machine Installation, large and complex sales & marketing project.
  • Have delivered product management portfolio in a fast-paced agile development environment. Well-versed with CI/CD & DevOps management in software development projects.
  • The ability to work closely with the customer to understand their needs and manage expectations is a requirement, as is the ability to lead and work with the team, their management, and the matrixed organizations impacted by the project.
  • Ability to successfully work with Senior Management is a critical success factor.
  • Organization and leadership skills a plus. 
  • E-commerce Web Development experience
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, agile methodolody, and best practice
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organization skills
  • A creative brain with a keen eye for detail 
  • Strong communication skills written and verbal
