Primary Purpose of the position

The Intelligent Manufacturing Manager - will collaborate with Global Engineering and Process Teams on the strategic development of Goodyear's New Modular Manufacturing Strategy with samrt factory and automation solution. This position is accountable for the development of the scope/layout of the facilities and bringing these projects to implementation. 

He/She will define and develop Global Manufacturing Capacity Improvement Initiatives (such as Throughput Optimization, Manufacturing Simulation/New Technology Evaluation, Industrial Engineering [IE]/Continuous Improvement [CI] Models/Tools [i.e. Workflow Analysis, Time Studies, Value Stream Mapping, etc]).

This position will develop, implement and maintain new team tools, models and processes to be utilized in support of regional studies/project analysis. Develop plant/regional competitive intelligence analysis related to Manufacturing capacity and capabilities. Integrate new Manufacturing capabilities into new Manufacturing projects. Lead the analysis to support Global Manufacturing facility projects consolidation for strategic business unites (SBUs). In addition, will lead regional studies/projects analysis for alignment to global requirements versus capibility and capacity (RvsCC).

Develop & drive the coordinated linkages between the business & manufacturing. Educate leadership at the regional & factory level in Industrial Engineering methodologies.

 

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Complete the strategic analysis to support the 5-year Capital Planning Process, by using the appropriate IE/CI Tools, Models, etc. to aid in master planning for Manufacturing footprint with smart factory concept and automation solution. Develop 10-year strategic plans for each Manufacturing facility based on global plant roles.
  • Evaluate new process technologies and compare with current operating performances. Analyze potential cost impact by utilizing computer models/simulation. Represents Global Manufacturing as part of the Competitive Intelligence Team, which evaluates competitors' announcements and presents to region operation leadership (Region Engineer director, Region PMO director,Region Quality director, Region Supply Chain director, Region manufacturing operation director and VP regional operation. etc.) with recommendations on potential financial impact to Goodyear.
  • Develop and improve regional/global standards for project implementation as it relates to efficient project planning, resource utilization and overall maximum efficiency. Responsible for plant/regional implementation.
  • Initiate and lead collaboration between plants, regions and global GEMT provide Regional/Global Manufacturing capability improvements and new technology application ideas for implementation. Act as mentor to Regional IE specialist and Regional Planners.
  • Conduct regional/global studies/projects for alignment to plant/regional RvsCC as required (including presenting findings to management).  Generate detailed scope and layout to support study/project needs.

 

Education & Certifications

  • BS - industrial engineering or other engineering discipline. Advanced technical Degree or MBA Degree.

 

Experience

 

  • 5+ years’ experience with industrial engineering related projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years’ experience of smart factory solution related project.
  • Experience in the implementation output standards.
  • Experience in leading projects & driving change management initiatives.
  • Knowledge on IE Tools (Capacity analysis, Cycle Time studies, Manning definition, Layout (AutoCAD), etc.)

  • Ability to work across all levels of the organization: to include hourly workers through executive management.
  • Knowledge of establishing, monitoring & improving output standards.
  • Shows evidence of ability to guide & mentor others & demonstrates some leadership ability
