DIRECTOR ENGINEERING PROJECTS, ASIA PACIFIC 

 

The Director Engineering Projects serves as a key strategic leader within Goodyear’s global Manufacturing Engineering organization, responsible for driving the delivery of tire manufacturing equipment and process solutions that meet global performance, cost, and technology standards across the Asia Pacific (AP) region. This position provides leadership to the regional Engineering team, ensuring the successful execution of complex capital projects, supplier development initiatives and production support.

 

In this capacity, the incumbent will oversee the development and qualification of equipment suppliers, manage alignment with global equipment/process standards and integrate advanced manufacturing technologies to support long-term competitiveness. He/She is also accountable for building organizational capability for the regional team through talent acquisition, career development, performance management and succession planning.

 

As a critical interface between regional operations and global strategy, this role ensures engineering initiatives are aligned with broader manufacturing, procurement, and business objectives, while safeguarding Goodyear’s intellectual property (IP) and fostering a culture of innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

 

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

 Drive Supplier Strategy and Development:

Lead the strategic identification, qualification, and development of tire manufacturing equipment suppliers across the AP region, with a strong focus on cost competitiveness, technical compliance, and supplier capability. Oversee site assessments and vendor evaluations to ensure alignment with Goodyear’s global equipment standards. Foster high-impact collaboration with global and regional Engineering, Procurement and Plant leadership to enable integrated sourcing decisions.

 

 Provide Technical Leadership in Sourcing and Bid Strategy:

Serve as the primary technical authority during supplier development and sourcing activities. Influence sourcing outcomes by advising on supplier capabilities, validating bid packages, and supporting commercial negotiations with deep technical insights. Partner with Procurement to drive supplier selection that balances quality, cost, and innovation. 

 

Define and Lead Scope Development and Technology Integration:

Lead the development of comprehensive project scopes and schedules that meet full-plant process needs and leverage appropriate technology levels. Champion the transfer of manufacturing technology into the region, defining performance expectations and leading implementation of training, maintenance, and operational readiness systems. Ensure seamless integration and regional capability development.

 

Oversee Production Support and Regional Operational Excellence:

Direct production support strategies across AP, aligning resources and priorities with regional and plant leadership. Maintain budgetary oversight, ensure departmental cost control, and drive organizational capability through talent development, performance management and succession planning processes.

 

Safeguard Intellectual Property, Compliance to Ethical and Integrity Standards and Monitor Emerging Technologies: 

Ensure all supplier engagements are protected by appropriate legal agreements to secure Goodyear’s IP. Uphold Goodyear's ethical standards by demonstrating the highest level of integrity in all aspects of the role. Monitor global technology trends and regional innovation to proactively mitigate IP risk and maintain Goodyear’s competitive edge in manufacturing excellence.

 

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or other technical field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 10 or more years of experience working in the tire manufacturing or related industry.
  • Project management and vendor management experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in or leading a matrixed organization and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with technical center staff on projects in manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with equipment safety standards and corporate technical information (CTI).
  • Experience in Procurement – Desired.

  • Reports to: Senior Director, Global Process Engineering
  • Team: 9-10 Engineers across APAC with a primary focus on China – Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Facilities, Electrical Controls
