Senior Accountant

Primary Purpose of the Position

 

The role is responsible for providing timely, accurate, relevant & value-adding accounting & financial information to all relevant stakeholders, completing closing, reporting, and reconciliation activities, and ensuring the integrity of the general ledger account balances.

Ensuring financial processes & controls are in place throughout relevant business units and making sure that correct business practices are always followed.

This role is also expected to actively participate in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and perform other ad-hoc operational or administrative tasks, as the process requires.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the completion of month-end activities, ensure the accuracy of the general ledger and work closely with the GBS Finance Operations team to resolve operational issues and ensure all financials are properly reflected
  • Execute critical closing tasks, prepare, and distribute various periodic reports, and prepare complex manual journal entries, and internal regional/corporate month-end reports including Team Operational /Metrics Reports that are retained to local
  • Execute critical treasury management activities that are retained locally
  • Review fixed assets activities, bank recon, and other cash management activities and support issue resolution, both in technical and accounting concepts
  • Review reconciling reports and supporting documents prepared by various GBS Finance Operations teams prior to posting
  • Manage 3rd-party vendor master file including creation and or update of non-Procurement suppliers
  • Provide financial reporting and or sales/cost analysis for business cases or marketing programs to support management decision-making
  • Support immediate supervisor in the preparation of statutory accounts, and disclosures required in the accounts, and work with external auditors on the interpretation of legislations, accounting treatments, and disclosures.
  • Provide support in the preparation of withholding tax reports, and tax reconciliation and ensure proper filing of supporting documents for reference in future BIR audit
  • Actively participate in or lead systems and process improvement and change management projects, as required
  • Create and or update applicable standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Keep abreast of changes in Accounting standards/regulations impacting the entity being supported
  • Complete administrative tasks such as attending coaching, training, PMP/IDP, and other activities necessary to achieve identified organization objectives

 

Job Qualifications

 

 

  • Bachelor’s/College Degree in Accountancy with Certification in Public Accountancy
  • 5-7 years of meaningful experience in an accounting role (e.g. Revenue Recognition, Sales Accounting, Lease Accounting, Fixed Assets Accounting, Financial Analysis, Account Reconciliation, including monthly closing and reporting) including monthly closing and reporting
  • Previous experience in ERP systems (preferably SAP)
  • Previous exposure to a work environment requiring attention to detail, working to deadlines, and handling queries both from external and internal contacts
  • Previous experience in fixed asset accounting/treasury management (optional)
  • Understanding of Local accounting standards and Philippine corporate taxation
  • Understanding of internal audit, SOX audit, and external audit concepts
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to provide solid advice and accounting support to key stakeholders within the business
  • Organization and prioritization skills, ability to manage workload and respect deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and must have experience and proficiency in account reconciliation and analysis
  • Must be a team player and enjoy supporting the wider organization network
  • Knowledge of SAP system & BW, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of SLAN / Vistex (optional)
