Systems Administrator

The Systems Administrator provides critical technical expertise for computing systems in several areas, including technology development, operating systems research, and systems in support of core organizational functions. This position applies proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues as well as being responsible for activities related to server and system privacy and security requirements.

Maintains computing environment by identifying server requirements; installing upgrades and patches; monitoring server performance.

Maintains server performance by performing server monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting server problems; escalating problems to Regional, Global or Direct to Vendor Support.                                                                    

Secures servers by developing server access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs timely response and resolution to requests and incidents raised through various channels of support including but not limited to ticketing systems, email, chat, in-person, phone, etc.  Ability to perform remote troubleshooting and provide clear instructions.  Follow through to resolution, or escalation to appropriate team, while maintaining appropriate documentation requirements.
  • Administers, maintains  and monitors Server (FNP, Payroll, Backup, BioMetrics, etc.), IT Security, Customize Corporate Servers, Reporting Systems, Mobile and other IT related infrastructure systems.  Maintains maximum availability of mission critical servers in the Philippines and ensures network availability and accessibility.
  • Monitor to maintain server performance (availability, utilization, throughput, uptime, and latency), while testing for weaknesses or vulnerabilities to ensure server security, stability and availability.  Conduct analysis reporting, performance tuning and troubleshooting in coordination with internal and external escalation points.
  • Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.  Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Flexibility in work schedules, including evening, weekend, holiday and rotating shift requirements (scheduled in advance).     Attending CMR implementation and breakfix incident resolutions that may have on-call requirements.

Qualifications

At least IT Bachelor Degree, or equivalent experience.  Customer-oriented attitude, strong work ethics, integrity and accountability for assigned tasks.  Proven work experience supporting enterprise scale server systems.

MIS Degree, At least 1 Recognized IT Certification, ITIL Training, VDI Experience (Desired)      

2-3 years of experience with the following:

  • Manages and maintains Windows Server environment including hardware and OS.
  • Manages and maintains server backup software.
  • Windows Server OS (2008 and above) configuration and management.
  • Knowledge of and experience with printer mapping, Windows Server OS (2008 and above) troubleshooting, as well as VLAN connectivity.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in developing efficient and effective solutions to business problems.
  • Working knowledge of office automation products and computer peripherals, like printers, scanners and scripting tools.
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Active Directory Management, Remote Support software, Change Management Process and Procedures.                       

     

Proven experience in a systems administrator role. Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.  Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired.  Great at organizing, prioritizing and multitasking.  Exhibit enthusiasm, patience and attention to detail.  Excellent customer service engagement.

Operations and Support:

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

 

Maintenance:

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports IT Security applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
