Cooper Tire's Texarkana mold repair facility, located in Texarkana, TX, is currently seeking a passionate Mold Repair Lead Technician to join our team. Our team focuses on the repair of tire molds used to manufacture tires in our North American plants through a high level of hands-on craftsmanship. We serve our plant customers through quality of repair, speed of molds returning to the plant for production, and low cost of services. The team of Mold Repair Technicians on our team are responsible for bringing damaged molds back to brand-new state and recutting molds that require work as a result of engineering changes. The Mold Repair Lead Technician will oversee this team and operations of the Texarkana, TX facility, while performing technician duties as needed. Every day and every mold is different. Initially, the candidate will receive training at our flagship Findlay, OH shop for a short time and be mentored long-term at the Texarkana, TX location by the repair team and the North American mold repair shop manager to fulfill the job duties required.

Job Responsibilities:
- On-site supervisor of the shop team and maintains working technician skillset (working lead)
- Enforces safety requirements within the shop
- Collaborates with the North American mold repair shop manager to bring in work and establish scheduling priorities
- Main contact at the Texarkana, TX mold repair facility for needs from plant customers
- Ensures resources required for smooth operations are procured (plans/orders consumables, schedules equipment inspections/maintenance, etc.)
- Diagnoses mold condition to determine necessary repairs
- Reads engineering prints/documents to determine rework required on a given mold
- Performs mold repair and rework including, but not limited to, drilling, welding, peening, buffing, sanding, mill usage, lathe usage, sandblasting, C02 blasting
- Work planning for schedule adherence in process molds to get back into service at the plant
- Repair and rework inspection/ adherence and enforcement of Quality standards
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or similar setting
- Hands-on aptitude
- Working knowledge of computer applications
- Being a great teammate and servant to our plant customers and organization
- Ability to work M-F, day shift, non-union
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Knowledgeable and attentive to safety requirements
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, and problem solve effectively.
- Attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or certification
- Previous experience in Auto Body work or complete trade school or an apprenticeship in the field.
- Welding experience
- Previous experience operating CNC machining equipment and CAM programming or completed trade school or an apprenticeship in machining
