Uniformity Engineer

Uniformity Engineer working in conjunction with Quality Assurance, Tire Engineering, Plant Engineering, and Reliability Engineering, evaluates work processes to determine strategies, methods, and controls which provide improved quality by performing the duties below. This specific role will focus on process influences to tire uniformity. Objective will be to achieve and maintain the shop KOIs (key operating indicators), including but not limited to Uniformity scrap, Uniformity RFT (right the first time), Grind Rate, Blem Rate objectives, while continuously reducing uniformity averages and standard deviation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Standardizes the improved processes across the unit, department, facility, organization.
  •  
  • Supports Technical and Corporate Process Engineering efforts in developing the industrialization of new processes and/or procedures within the plant.
  •  
  • Perform Uniformity Studies to both COMPENSATE uniformity means and identify sources of process issues, and dispersion.
  •  
  • Identify process issues on the tire assembly machines through UNIFORMITY KNOWNS; working hands-on to address those issues and analyzing results for statistical improvements
  •  
  • Working with processing engineering to enhance control on KPI’s and KPO’s related to uniformity, along with developing plant reporting to shop floor for KPI’s and KPO’s
  •  
  • Working with processing engineering to improve uniformity without negatively impacting other quality parameters (e.g.  Visual Conditions, CTAs).  Work closely with Process and Quality techs to understand the effects related to both Uniformity moves on visual conditions and visual condition process changes on Uniformity.
  •  
  • Works in concert with Process Engineering and Plant Engineering to ensure the right equipment is available to support new product introductions.
  •  
  • Identifies potential for cost reduction through improved uniformity and process capability by equipment enhancements, process modifications, or improvement in techniques.
  •  
  • Implements best practices in an effort to maintain standardization and improve equipment and process performance.
  •  
  • Assists in the development and standardization for new construction and equipment purposes.
  •  
  • Instructs others in process improvements, including the use of various problem solving methods.
  •  
  • Facilitates employee teams to build cohesiveness and improve the overall results of the respective teams' tasks.
  •  
  • Provides adequate reporting that identifies areas of opportunity and documents progress on improvements designed, implemented and controlled by their efforts.
  •  
  • May, on occasion, be required to perform other duties as necessary for efficient operation.

Education and/or Experience                                            

The most applicable degrees to this job would be in the area of Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineer, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or Industrial Technology although other degrees may also qualify based on individual background.
