About the Position

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the operations and maintenance of equipment such as generators, boilers, turbines, compressors, or ventilating or refrigerating systems. Monitors equipment and operating conditions to ensure safety standards are met. The power house manager has full authority and may be considered lower middle management. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Leads and directs the work of others. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute activities involving continuous improvement tools, analysis of product irregularities, recommending solutions and facilitating cost down initiatives related to improving product costs.  These duties would include training and instruction of appropriate team members and day-to-day floor support.
  • Assist in identification of unacceptable performance through analysis and acquired technical knowledge of the product and process including waste and cost reduction.
  • Assist in and learn process for prepare cost estimates, financially justifying project, prepare budgets, review design, supervise installation and commissioning.
  • Assists in research of new equipment, systems, and processes to advance plant operations.
  • Gain understanding and assist to ensure safety, environmental and other regulatory compliances by working with appropriate associates on EHS issues, following the implementation of MSR's, and continually improving the communication across all relevant departments.
  • Participate in contractor management process and periodically audit contractor’s work to ensure that safe work practices and standard operating procedures are followed.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Relevant technical certifications preferred.
  • Minimum (4) four years’ experience working with multidisciplinary Engineering and Maintenance associates to achieve cost effective goals.
  • Proven ability to gain results in a team environment.
  • Equipment design experience and project engineering or project management role is preferred.

  • Computer literate in MS Office Suite, computerized layouts sheets & database management.

  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement, safety and environmental protection.
  • Aptitude in mechanical, electrical and welding applications.
  • Ability to understand plant layouts, capital estimating, associate-man computations and tire manufacturing equipment processes.
