Primary Purpose of the Position
We are seeking a Raw Materials Manager who is a recognized leader in planning and supply chain solutions to support production requirements and drive continuous improvement. This role will lead the development and implementation of new technologies, optimize the plant’s raw material supply chain and inventory, and guide cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will act as a key knowledge resource, driving innovation, ensuring effective problem-solving strategies, and managing the workforce responsible for receiving materials. Additional responsibilities include identifying and mitigating risks, coaching team members, and fostering a culture of open communication and continuous improvement across the organization.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage & optimize the plant raw material supply chain & inventory: Physical Inventory, IQR, Accurate Forecasts, & Shipment/Inventory Tracking.
- Responsible for managing the purchasing, sourcing & receiving of materials required for production with external vendors.
- Manage order interface: Oversees data input based upon inventory results, confirms min/max needs, responsible for all inbound raw materials to Plant, Third Party Mixers & local pre-weight site.
- Develop, implement & manage plans to support team development addressing quality, waste, delivery & cost.
- Perform & execute all other duties assigned.
Required Education & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, computer science or related field.
Experience
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing company in a supply chain function or operations management role with demonstrated capability of leading teams.
- 5+ years’ experience in supply chain/raw materials field.
- Experience in leading work across divisions & with external organizations.
- Experience in a union environment (if applicable).
Preferred
- SAP experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication, problem solving & computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Strong quantitative & analytical skills.
- Understands inventory strategy, product supply, deployment & production planning.
- Strong understanding of business issues, metrics & customer value.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, lead & effectively manage meetings at the work group level, give clear & concise guidance in meetings
