Technology Engineer Senior

Primary Purpose of Position:

  • The Sr. Technical Engineer in the Mixing area will be mentoring a team of Chemical Engineers and Laboratory Technicians responsible for improving the process of mixing rubber compounds.  They will also ensure and audit equipment so that it complies with all safety, environmental and other regulatory compliances.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  •    Strong knowledge of rubber compounds and mixing processes.  Coach and mentor teams of chemical engineers and technicians to develop excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and technical rubber mixing knowledge, creating a trustful environment with customers and work teams.
  •    Lead activities involving continuous improvement tools, analysis of product irregularities, recommending solutions and facilitating process improvements impacting safety, quality, delivery, and costs. These duties would include training and instruction of appropriate team members and day-to-day floor support.  Lead activities to Identify and correct unacceptable performance through analysis and technical knowledge of the product and processes involving rubber mixing.  
  •   Assist in and learn the process for preparing cost estimates, financially justifying project, preparing budgets, reviewing designs, supervising installations and commissioning.  Assists in research of new equipment, systems, and processes to advance plant operations
  •   Gain understanding and assist to ensure safety, environmental and other regulatory compliances by working with appropriate associates on EHS issues, following the implementation of MSR's, and continually improving the communication across all relevant departments.  Participate in contractor management process and periodically audit contractor’s work to ensure that safe work practices and standard operating procedures are followed.
  •      Track and analyze to ensure engineering expense and capital budgeting compliance.  Responsible for the proper design, installation, modification, and maintainability of new and existing plant equipment, buildings and facilities.  Provide the necessary engineering and maintenance expertise to the production organization in order to promote the production of the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost, as needed.



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (15 years)



  • 10 years Goodyear or relevant experience desired.
  • Experience in more than one plant preferred.
  • Experience in multiple function functions at the plant preferred.
  • Experience in corporate function preferred



  • Computerized layout, spreadsheet & database management.
  • Strong communication, analytical & planning skills.
  • Ability to understand plant layouts, capital estimating, associate-computation & solid understanding of manufacturing equipment processes.
  • Ability to successfully use problem solving techniques such as Kepner Tregoe, SPC, Logbook, etc
