Primary Purpose of the Position
The Assistant Controller reports directly to the Country Controller who reports functionally to the Regional Controller - LAT SBU and operationally to the Country Finance Director.
The Assistant Controller has the primary responsibility to support the Country Controller to ensure the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting is timely and accurate. This position is responsible for the accounting analysis, monthly financial statement closing and maintains effective internal controls in compliance with SOX, company policies, and USGAAP and Local GAAP

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the financial reporting processes accurate and timely. This includes the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement closing procedures, account reconciliations, and establishing judgmental reserve balances. Ensure processes are in compliance with U.S. GAAP and Company Policies. Responsible for statutory books and accounting distributions appropriates.
  • Ensure that a robust internal control structure is in place and functioning effectively. Ensure that identified control and internal audit gaps are remediate on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for Intercompany Transactions.
  • Coordinate the quarterly letter of representation and SOX certification processes.
  • Develop talent for the finance organization, including development of professionals within the business and succession planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to finance processes and systems.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and upgrades of the accounting systems and for accounting initiatives.
  • Coordinate audit activities with internal and external auditors.
  • Understand and have an ability to summarize and communicate clearly the financial and operating results of the Company in order to measure progress against objectives and assess the effectiveness of decisions made. Work with finance leadership to identify actionable cost reduction and cash flow generation opportunities.
  • Build organizational capability for innovation through training and other avenues
  • Identify solutions to market-back challenges by leveraging Open Innovation, emerging technologies, partnerships, networks, suppliers, ideation, etc.
  • Continuously promote changes and innovative improvements on process, systems and business concepts in order to deliver profitable and sustainable growth opportunities to Goodyear

 

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar CPA certified.
  • English: Advanced

 

Experience

  • 3+ years of progressively more responsible experience in accounting / analysis, with minimum 2 years in a lead management role.
  • 7+ years’ experience with controlling/finance function.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Track record of achieving measurable business objectives.
  • Thorough understanding of local GAAP/IFRS and U.S. GAAP, accounting for complex transactions and internal controls in compliance with SOX.
  • Strong knowledge, understanding, and practical skills in relevant systems (i.e. ERP system (SAP preferred), MS Office products,) as applicable to the country.Experienced in building Finance team, developing talent for the organization as evidenced by advancement and success of team members.
